#OnThisDayin 1905, the Fond du Lac High School boys basketball team won the first high school basketball tournament ever held in the United States. Ten Wisconsin teams played in the Lawrence University Invitational in Appleton, and Fond du Lac defeated Sheboygan to become the first state champions in U.S. basketball history. Fond du Lac later went on to become the first WIAA state champions when the first WIAA tournament was held in 1916.
