Fond du Lac Places Fifth at FVA Boys Swimming Conference Meet
February 11, 2026
The Fond du Lac boys swim team secured a fifth-place finish at the FVA Conference 2026 Fondy Invite, leaning on strong relay performances and several top‑five individual swims to accumulate 241 points in the varsity standings. Only Appleton North East (504), Neenah (449), Oshkosh West (383) and Appleton West Co‑op (376) finished ahead of the Cardinals.
Fond du Lac’s best individual result came from Logan Gilgenbach, who raced to second place in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:16.44, providing one of the meet’s most significant point boosts for the Cardinals. Gilgenbach also contributed a fifth‑place finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:58.90, reinforcing Fond du Lac’s scoring presence in the middle‑distance events.
In the sprint lanes, James Krantz delivered two of Fond du Lac’s most impactful finals swims. Krantz placed fourth in the 50 freestyle in 23.31 and added another fourth‑place finish in the 100 butterfly in 58.06, helping stabilize the Cardinals’ scoring in races typically dominated by deeper conference programs.
Simon and Miles Sirna supplemented the Cardinals’ performance with a steady stream of top‑eight results. Simon placed seventh in the 50 freestyle (24.74) and seventh in the 100 freestyle (55.84), while Miles finished eighth in the 50 freestyle (24.89) and fifth in the 100 butterfly (1:03.16). Both swimmers also held key relay legs throughout the meet.
Relays proved to be one of the Cardinals’ strongest assets. Fond du Lac placed fourth in the 200 medley relay (1:54.45), fifth in the 200 freestyle relay (1:37.66), and ninth in the 400 freestyle relay (4:09.34), scoring in every varsity relay and beating or matching their seed times in two of the three events. The quartet of Gilgenbach, Krantz, and the Sirna’s appeared prominently across these relay lineups.
Additional scoring came from Alex Pasiuk, who earned points in the 200 freestyle (10th, 2:14.34) and 500 freestyle (8th, 6:02.54), and Sam Miller, who scored in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle. Daytin Gremminger, Mason DeMars, and Milo Kohnke also contributed through lower‑seeded finals that helped the Cardinals avoid point gaps in the sprint events.
With a combination of dependable relay strength and standout individual performances, the Cardinals maintained a solid hold on fifth place as the conference meet concluded. Their results position them well as the postseason approaches, particularly in distance freestyle, butterfly, and sprint relays. They will perform next Saturday in the Sectionals.
