The Cardinals started out fast with two goals in the first period both from Sophomore defenseman #3 Eli Zar. The first goal was on the Power play with assists from Nick Oberneder and Caden Umentum. The Cardinals continued their offense in the second period with two goals from Parker Ziebell and Caden Umentum for a 4-0 lead after 2 periods. Waupun would strike 6 seconds into the third period with a goal from Camden Flegner. The Cardinals would answer back with a power play goal of their own from Peyton Umentum for a 5-1 final score.

It was all USM in this one from start to finish. They controlled the pace and tempo of the game as the Cardinals had fewer than five shots on net. It was 0-0 after the first period. USM then notched three goals in the final two periods to put the game away.

THe game opened up with a fast and even first period. Fox Cities was able to get a goal right after a PP late in the first period and shots/chances were even. Fox Cities would score again at the start of the 2nd period to go up 2-0 but FDL would respond with a goal from Madox King. THe Stars would respond with two more goals to make it 4-1 after period number 2. It was all Fox Cities in the third adding three more goals for a 7-1 final.

FDL is now 1-2 in badgerland play and 1-4 overall and FC is undefeated overall and in conference play.

Kettle Moraine opened the scoring on the first shift with a quick goal 26 seconds in off a FDL turnover behind the net. FDL would answer when Parker Ziebell was awarded a penalty shot after he was hooked down in the clear. He would score on a nice shot glove side. The first period ended 1-1. The second period saw the teams trade Power Play goals with Madox King scoring on a tap in on the Power Play. KMMO would then respond with a PP goal of their own on a nice tip in front of the net. 2-2 after 2nd period. The teams would skate to a scoreless 3rd period with plenty of chances both ways. The game would go to overtime and was looking like a 2nd overtime but the Cardinals Caden Umentum scored with 8 seconds left in the first period. 

The Cardinals record is now 2-4-0 overall

The Ledgers came out ready to play, scoring in the first two minutes of play in the first period on a goal by Barron Bolka. They would add a second goal on the PP with 1 second left in the first period. The Cardinals would storm back in the second period with a goal from Parker Ziebell on a break away. 2 minutes later Cooper Sabel would tie the game for FDL as he broke away in the clear and scored. The teams would battle and exchange chances through the third period and the first 8 minute 5 on 5. At the end of the first OT the cardinals had the pressure on and drew a delay of game penalty as SMSA covered the puck in the slot. The Cardinals would go into the 5 minute 3 on 3 overtime with a 4-3 power play and could not capitalize. A minute later the Ledgers would get their chance on the 4-3 PP as FDL took too many men penalty. The Ledgers Teigue Wagner would score with 1:33 left in the second OT

The Cardinals are now 1-3 in conference play and 2-4 overall heading into the WI Dells holiday tournament.

Varsity Invitational     Aquinas Avalanche           Poppy Waterman Ice Arena, Baraboo

Varsity        4  – 3         3 – 5

Aquinas Avalanche got on the board quickly scoring 1:22 seconds into the game and the cardinals for the third straight game gave up a goal in the first few shifts of the game. There would be no more scoring in the 1st period 1-0 avalanche. Fond du lac would come out and score 21 seconds into the second period with Nick Oberneder picking up the goal pinching in from his defensive position. The score would remain 1-1 after 2 periods of play. The Cardinals would open up the third period on the power play and would capitalize on Peyton Umentum’s goal top corner from the left side. The Cardinals would add another from Eli Zar from the point to go up 3-1, but the Avalanche weren’t done. They would capitalize on a Cardinals penalty and then again 38 seconds later even strength to tie the game. THe Cardinals would answer with 32 seconds left on another goal from the point from Nick Oberneder. The Cardinals will play Tomah tomorrow at 12:30 PM in the Dells

FDL 2       Tomah/Sparta 1       (2 OT)

After putting pressure on the Cardinals for the first 6-7 minutes Tomah/Sparta finally scored on a tip-in shot from the point in front of the net. The Cardinals found themselves down 1-0 after the first period. The Cardinals were outplayed in the second period and shots were 10 to 5 in favor of Tomah in a scoreless 2nd period. 1-0 after 2nd. In the third period the Cardinals finally got the offense going when Peyton Umentum cashed in on the power play. 1-1 after regulation. The game would go to a 5 on 5 overtime and the teams would skate to a tie in that 8 minute frame. The game would then go to 3 on 3 for 5 minutes and the Cardinals Peyton scored 13 seconds into the 2nd overtime on a mishandle by the Tomah Goalie.

Varsity      2 – 1       5 – 5          vs  Bay Area Storm       @  Cornerstone Community Center, Ashwaubenon

The first period saw both teams trade chances and the shots were 9-7 in favor of the Bay Area with no goals scored 0-0 after 1. The second period was dominated by the storm but FDL goalie Colin Gamble stood tall in the net not relinquishing a goal in the period 0-0 after 2. The third period the Cardinals got on the board when Peyton Umentum grabbed the puck on a storm turnover and drove in on a break away. Peyton Umentum was not finished as he would add his second goal on the power play with an assist from Caden Umentum. The storm would make things interesting, scoring a breakaway goal with three minutes left. The Cardinal defense would stand strong with the goalie pulled and the final score was 2-1 FDL. The Cardinals improved their record to 5-5 on the season.

FDL would score first in the first period on a goal from Mason King when he walked out of the corner and beat the goaltender. Oshkosh would strike back early in the second period with a goal of their own from Elijah Johnson. Oshkosh would score again about 1/2 way through the period. After damage to the ice was discovered they would end the second period early for repairs and the game was delayed. The Cardinals did their best to score in the third period but could not get it past the goalie for a 2-1 final. 

FDL Gamble – 13 saves

The cardinals fall to 1-4 in the conference and 5-6 overall.

Fond du lac came out dominating the first period in shots and capping it off with a goal from Killian Murphy. 1-0 after the first Period. Sheboygan would come storming back with 3 goals of their own in the second period. 3-1 after the second period of play. FDL would respond with goals from Max Tennesson and Parker Ziebell to take the game to overtime. Sheboygan would finish it with a goal with 2:17 left in overtime on a rush to win the game.

The Cardinals suffer another defeat in OT dropping their record 5-7 overall in a non conference game.

The teams would skate to a pretty even first period with shots favoring arrowhead slightly 9-6. the first period would end scoreless. Arrowhead would strike first in the second period on a Power Play. The score at the end of the 2nd period would be 1-0 Arrowhead. Fond du lac would answer early in the third on their own Power Play to tie the game at 1-1. Despite chances both ways the score would be 1-1 at the end of regulation going to Overtime. Arrowhead would end the game on FDL turnover in the neutral zone. 2-1 Arrowhead final. 

The Cardinals suffer another overtime defeat dropping their record to 5-8.

Fond du lac would add to their lead with a goal from Mason King 3 minutes into the second period. Appleton would respond on the power play as they drag the goalie across the crease and score to the far side. Fond du lac would respond with a goal from Parker Ziebell. 3-1 after 2 periods of play. The Cardinals would add two goals from Peyton Umentum and Caden Umentum in the third for a 5-1 final score

McFarland dominated play in the first period scoring an early goal to put the Spartans up 1-0. In the second period the teams played close but FDL left a McFarland forward wide open on the back door. 2-0 Mcfarland after 2 periods. Fond du lac would capitalize in the 3rd period on a Power play goal from Trevyn Rebek. His first varsity goal. McFarland would score again 1/2 way through the third to put them up 3-1. Mcfarland would add two empty net goals for a 5-1 final.

The two teams would battle to a fairly even first period but remain scoreless 0-0 after 1. Shots were 13-12 in favor of the Cardinals. The Cardinals would get on the board first with a goal from Cooper Sabel on a rebound in front of the net. Deforest would answer scoring a goal on the tail end of a FDL PP sneaking their player out of the penalty box and behind the defense. The score would be 1-1 after the second Period. Fond du lac would score in the third period as Parker Ziebell slashed through the Navigator defense and scored. Deforest would pull their goalie at 2-1 and Parker Ziebell would again intercept a pass and slide the puck into the empty net for a 3-1 final score.

The Blackhawks come out strong and score in the first minute of the game on a FDL turnover. They scored again 2 minutes later to take a 2-0 lead. FDL would come storming back with a goal from Parker Ziebell. Then the Cardinals would go on the PP and Parker Ziebell would score again to tie the game 1-1 after the first period. The Cardinals would dominate the 2nd period and time of possession in zone but the score would remain 2-2 after 2nd period. Baldwin Woodville would score in the third and then add a PP goal to make the final 4-2.

Varsity      1 – 4         7 – 12            vs  Waupun        (H) Blue Line Community Center 

Waupun opens the scoring with a goal from Camden Flegner in the first period on a tough angled shot. 1-0 Waupun after the first period. Waupun would add two more goals in the 2nd from Zake Zingsheim and Colton Postotnick. 3-0 Waupun after the 2nd period. Waupun would score another in the third from Chase Beahm on the PP to make it 4-0. FDL would score late in the period with a goal from Caden Umentum to make it 4-1. FDL would pull the goalie for the last 3 minutes with chances on the net but to no avail. 4-1 final

Varsity     3 – 0        8 – 12       vs  Appleton United

The Cardinals came out fast in the first period with 16 shots on the Appleton goal but their scoring woes continued. The Cardinals were able to get one goal in the first from Brady Wehner. His first Carinal Goal. 1-0 after 1st period. Appleton pushes back the first part of the 2nd period and controls some of the play but the Cardinals notch their second goal when two appleton defenders collide sending 2 FHS forward in on the goal alone. Parker Ziebell was able to slide the puck in. 2-0 after 2 periods of play. The third period would remain scoreless as Appleton would pull their goalie. Peyton Umentum was able to slide the puck in the empty net for a 3-0 final FDL.

Varsity  7 – 4       9 – 12      vs   Homestead

Fond du lac opened the scoring with two quick goals from Becket Weber (his first varsity goal) and Caden Umentum. Homestead would answer back with a minute left in the period to cut it to 2-1. Fond du Lac would respond 20 seconds later on another goal from Caden Umentum. Score was 3-1 after the first period. Fond du Lac would score early in the second period on the PP to take the 4-1 lead. Homestead would respond with 2 PP goals late in the second. 4-3 score after the second Period. In the third homestead would tie it 6 minutes into the period but FDL would respond to take the lead with 3 minutes remaining. THe highlanders would pull their goalie and Peyton Umentum would score his hat trick goal. Cooper Sabel would ice the victory with a second empty netter.

WIAA Regional semi final 

Fond du lac 6  Beaver Dam 1

Fond du lac came out with some pace outshooting Beaver Dam 10-1 in the first period and finally scored a goal with under a minute left in the 1st period from Killian Murphy. Beaver Dam would answer less than a minute into the 2nd period to tie the game at one. Fond du Lac would answer with a goal from defenseman Nick Oberneder. 2-1 FDL after the 2nd period. Fond du lac would add to their lead with a goal from Masen Holmes, his first Varsity goal. Fondy would add goals from Cooper Sabel, Caden Umentum, and Easton Wissink to finish the game 6-1 final.

Fond du lac scored a goal early on a point shot from Brady Wehner. DePere  would strike back a few minutes later on the Power Play. Depere would score again on a break towards the net to go up 2-1. FDL would respond with under a minute to go to tie the score 2-2 after the 1st Periods. The teams battled in the second period and traded chances. DePere would cash in on rush in the middle of the second period. It was 3-2 Depere after the 2nd Period. The Cardinals would play hard to tie and get the perfect opportunity when they received a 5 on 3 Power Play. Unfortunately they were not able to cash in or generate a good chance on that 5-3 Power play. DePere would receive a PP and score right after the PP ended to make it a 4-2 game. The Cardinals would pull the goalie and DePere was able to add two more goals to seal the victory. The season would be over for the cardinals who finish 10-16-0 on the season.
