Fondy finishes 8th at sectionals

NEENAH – The Fond du Lac boys’ swimming team finished in eighth place at Saturday’s WIAA Division 1 sectional meet, hosted by Neenah.

The Cardinals finished with 145 points as a team. Neenah won the sectional with 353 points.

Ben Stoffel-Murray paced Fond du Lac with a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley, coming in with a time of 2 minutes, 7.59 seconds, and was sixth in the 100-yard backstroke (58.79).

The 200-yard medley relay team of Stoffel-Murray, Cannon Lock, Nick Dilling and Keegan Buros (1:46.99) was sixth.

Lock was sixth in the 100-yard butterfly (57.01) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.34). Andrew Park was ninth in the 500-yard freestyle (5:12.24).

The 400-yard freestyle relay of Park, Abe Stoffel-Murray, Dilling and Ben Stoffel-Murray was sixth (3:31.13).

Ben Stoffel-Murray supplied the Cardinals’ only first-place finish of the night, winning the 100-yard backstroke, as Fondy fell to the Rockets in a Fox Valley Association dual meet.

Stoffel-Murray finished with a time of 59.68 seconds.

West Bend Invitational

The Cardinals placed in the top six in a pair of relays and finished fourth overall at the invite.

Ben Stoffel-Murray, Cannon Lock, Nick Dilling and Kegan Buros finished fourth in the 200-meter medley relay to lead the way for Fond du Lac, while Stoffel-Murray, Dilling, Andrew Park and Abe Stoffel-Murray finished fifth in the 400-meter freestyle relay.

Lock also pitched in a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter butterfly.

Fondy finishes 8th at home invite

The Fond du Lac boys swimming team had a handful of top 10 finishes as the Cardinals finished eighth out of 13 teams at its home invite Saturday.

Cannon Lock was third in the 100 yard breast (1 minute, 6.79 seconds) while placing ninth in the 100 butterfly (59.24).

Ben Stoffel-Murray was fifth in the 100 yard back (59.78) while placing sixth in the 200 yard IM (2:10.46).

Andrew Park was seventh in the 500 yard free (5:21.97) and Abe Stoffel-Murray was 10th in the 100 yard free (54.76).

The 200 yard medley relay team (B. Stoffel-Murray, Lock, Nick Dilling, Park) was seventh with a time of 1:50.21 while the 400 yard free relay (Park, A. Stoffel-Murray, Dilling, B. Stoffel-Murray) was also seventh with a time of 3:40.57.

A short-handed Cardinals squad fell to Oshkosh West at Tuesday night’s Fox Valley Association dual meet.

Ben Stoffel-Murray finished first in the 200-yard individual medley for Fondy with a time of 2:11.81, while Cannon Lock finished first in the 100-yard butterfly. Brett Dykstra added a first-place finish in diving.

Second-place finishers included: Keegan Buros (100-yard butterfly), Nick Dilling (100-yard freestyle), Ben Stoffel-Murray (500-yard freestyle) and Lock (100-yard breaststroke). The 400-yard freestyle and 200-yard medley relay teams also placed second for the Cardinals.

Appleton North/East   106   Fond du Lac   79

The 200-yard medley relay team of Ben Stoffel-Murray, Andrew Park, Cannon Lock, and Keegan Buros provided the Cardinals’ only first-place finish of the night as Fondy fell to Appleton North/East in a Fox Valley Association dual meet.

Second-place finishers for Fond du Lac included: Abe Stoffel-Murray (200-yard free, 100-yard free), Ben Stoffel-Murray (200-yard IM, 100-yard backstroke), Keegan Buros (50-yard free), Cannon Lock (100-yard fly, 100-yard breaststroke), and Nick Dilling (500-yard free).

The 200-yard free and 400-yard free relay teams also placed second.

Fond du Lac   133     Berlin/Green Lake   34

With nine first-place finishes, the Cardinals destroyed Berlin/Green Lake in Tuesday’s dual meet.

Cannon Lock finished first in the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly.

Abe Stoffel-Murray finished first in the 500-yard freestyle, while Ben Stoffel-Murray finished first in the 100-yard backstroke

Keegan Buros added a first-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle, and Andrew Park finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke.

The 200-yard medley relay team of B. Stoffel-Murray, Park, Nick Dilling, and Buros also finished first, as did the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Park, Buros, Lock, and A. Stoffel-Murray. The 400-yard freestyle team of A. Stoffel-Murray, Lock, Dilling, and B. Stoffel-Murray added another win, rounding out a Fondy sweep of relay events.

Trever Goodwin finished first in 1 meter diving with a score of 184.4.

Fond du Lac  123   Appleton West/Kimberly  53

The Cardinals crushed Appleton West/Kimberly in Tuesday’s dual Fox Valley Association meet, finishing first in 11 of 12 events.

The 200 SC meter medley relay team of Ben Stoffel-Murray, Andrew Park, Cannon Lock, and Keegan Buros and the 200 SC meter freestyle relay team of Lock, Jacob Swanson, Nick Dilling, and Abe-Stoffel-Murray finished first for the Cardinals.

The 400 SC meter freestyle relay team of A. Soffel-Murray, Park, Dilling, and B. Stoffel-Murray also finished first. Park also had first0place finishes in the 50 SC meter freestyle, and the 400 SC meter Freestyle. Lock finished first in the 100 SC meter butterfly and the 100 SC meter breaststroke.

Stoffel-Murray had first-place finishes in the 200 SC meter freestyle and the 100 SC meter backstroke.

Dilling added a first-place finish in the 100 SC meter freestyle.

Trevor Goodwin finished first in 1 meter diving with a score of 136.95.

Appleton West invitational

The Fond du Lac boys swimming team came up empty-handed at an Appleton West Invitational, finishing last.

The 200 SC meter breast/fly relay team of Cannon Lock, Zach Pollard, Blake Champeau and Cruz Valenzuela as well as the 300 SC meter individual medley relay team of Lock, Champeau, and Spencer Hanks provided the Cardinals top finishes of the night with both teams coming in ninth.

The breast/fly team finished with a time of 2:34.52, while the individual medley team finished with a time of 3:55.97.

Fond du Lac 112, Oshkosh North/Lourdes 73

The Cardinals finished first in 10 of 11 events to cement a clear victory over Oshkosh North/Lourdes in Tuesday night’s dual meet.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Ben Stoffel-Murray, Cannon Lock, Nick Dilling, and Keegan Buros won with a time of 1:53.27. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Buros, Lock, Jacob Swanson, and Abe Stoffel-Murray also added a win with a time of 1:42.15, while the 400-yard freestyle relay of Dilling, Abe Stoffel-Murray, Swanson, and Ben Stoffel-Murray also won with a time of 3:45.23.

Abe Stoffel-Murray finished first in the 200-yard IM (2:22.10) and the 100-yard freestyle (55.47).

Ben Stoffel-Murray had first-place finishes in the 500-yard freestyle (5:29.69) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.22).

Buros took first in the 50-yard freestyle (24.94), Dilling in the 100-yard butterfly (1:03.54), and Lock in the 100-yard Breaststroke (1:10.59).

Fondy wins Cudahy invite

Cudahy Invitational: The Fond du Lac boys swimming team took first place at Saturday’s Cudahy Invite, scoring 370 points.

Burlington was second with 336.5 points.

Abe Stoffel-Murray finished first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:59.33, while Ben Stoffel-Murray was first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.77).

The 200-yard medley relay of Ben Stoffel-Murray, Andrew Park, Cannon Lock and Jacob Swanson was also first.

Fondy falls to Neenah

Neenah 88, Fond du Lac 82: The Cardinals fell to Neenah by just six points in Tuesday’s Fox Valley Association meet.

First-place finishers for Fondy were: the 200-yard medley relay team of Ben Stoffel-Murray, Andrew Park, Cannon Lock, and Jacob Swanson, Stoffel-Murray in the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard individual medley, and Lock in the 100-yard fly and 100-yard breaststroke.
