Fond du Lac girls basketball fall to Appleton East 51-47 in playoffs
Despite beating them twice throughout the regular season, the eighth-seeded Fond du Lac girls basketball team was eliminated from the playoffs after a 51-47 loss to ninth-seeded Appleton East in a Division 1 regional game played in Fond du Lac Tuesday night.
Fondy didn’t have trouble with the Patriots during the regular season, picking up two wins by at least 15 points. “There was some good in the game at moments, but that has kind of been our season in a nut shell,” Fondy coach Jeff Bell said. “Hopefully we can only get better from here. We had a lot of youth that saw a lot of playing time and we should be some what of a veteran team next year.”
Ally Gietzel led Fondy with 12 points while Nicole Gietzel chipped in 11.
