WIAA Division 1 Regional 

Fondy falls to Oshkosh West 4 – 1 

The 11th-seeded Cardinals had no answer for Jamie Holsten as they fell to the sixth-seeded Wildcats in a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal game.

Fond du Lac managed only four hits for the game — one each from Caroline Wagner, Crystal Koch, Shania Schibbelhut and Angel Payne — as Holsten proved to be too much.

Oshkosh West scored two in the first and added two in the sixth before the Cardinals scored their lone run in the seventh. Hailey Hendrix had two hits to lead the Wildcats, while Megan Miller had a double and an RBI and Chantal Bougie added a double.

Andra O’Brien was the tough-luck loser, allowing only six hits.

Kimberly cruises by Fond du Lac

Kimberly 14, Fond du Lac 4: The Papermakers used a seven-run fourth inning to put the game away as they crushed the Cardinals in Fox Valley Association play.

Andra O’Brien took the loss in the circle for Fond du Lac, but did have a home run and two RBIs at the plate. Jessica Pentland added two hits and Crystal Koch had two RBIs.

Fond du Lac committed seven errors in the field.

The Lightning scored nine runs in the second and third innings en route to a lopsided Fox Valley Association win over the Cardinals.

Devin Wonser took the loss for Fond du Lac, striking out two and walking two in five innings.

Shania Schibbelhut was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Cardinals at the plate.

Fond du Lac scored its lone run in the sixth inning and managed only five hits. Caroline Wagner went 2-for-3, while Shania Schibbelhut drove in the Cards’ run.

Devin Wonser took the loss in the circle. Kaukauna scored two runs in the first and added on from there.

Neenah 7, Fond du Lac 4: Leading 4-3 in the seventh inning, the Cardinals allowed four runs to the Rockets as they fell in a Fox Valley Association game.

After Fond du Lac had scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to grab the lead, the Cards allowed Neenah to rally for the win.

Andra O’Brien took the loss for Fond du Lac, striking out seven and walking three. O’Brien was also 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple and a double. Angel Payne was 2-for-3 as well with an RBI.

Fondy splits DH with Appleton West

Appleton West 6-5, Fond du Lac 5-7: The Cardinals and Terrors split a Fox Valley Association doubleheader on Friday, with Appleton West winning the first game 6-5 and Fond du Lac taking the second game 7-5.

Appleton West scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to earn the victory in Game 1. Andra O’Brien took the loss for the Cards. Caroline Wagner was 3-for-4 with a double, Angel Payne added a triple and an RBI and O’Brien and Shania Schibbelhut both had two hits.

In the second game, Fond du Lac scored three runs in the top of the seventh and held off the Terrors in the bottom half. O’Brien earned the win, while Shibbelhut, Cheynne Bonincontri and Crystal Koch all had three hits. Michaela Schneider added a home run and three RBIs.

The Wildcats jumped on the Cardinals from the start and never let up en route to a lopsided Fox Valley Association win on Tuesday.

Oshkosh West scored six runs in the first inning and added one each in the third and fifth innings before closing it out with two in the sixth. Jamie Holsten picked up the win for the Wildcats, striking out 10 and walking one. Devin Wonser took the loss for Fond du Lac, striking out one and walking five. Hailey Hendrix and Jen Schnyder led West at the plate, each going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Mandy Koch had a double and two RBIs, while Sam Neustifter had two RBIs.

Fondy goes 2-1 at Sheboygan North tourney

Sheboygan North tournament: The Fond du Lac softball team went 2-1 at a tournament hosted by Sheboygan North, defeating Milwaukee Pius XI 24-6 and Cedarburg 3-2, while losing to Green Bay Southwest 4-3.

Angel Payne had three doubles and five RBIs in the Cardinals’ win over Pius XI, while Shania Schibbelhut was 4-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs. Aleigha Mitchell added a triple and two RBIs, Cheyenne Bonincontri had three hits and two RBIs and Jess Pentland added three RBIs.

Against Cedarburg, Lauren Wirtz went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, including the walkoff hit in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Sydney Friess earned the win in the circle for Fondy against Pius XI, while Devin Wonser picked up the victory against Cedarburg.

Fond du Lac pounded out eight hits in the game and scored three runs in the fifth to nearly extend the game.

Kimberly scored five runs in each of the first two innings and led the entire game.

Oshkosh West rallies past Fond du Lac   5 – 4

Hailey Hendrix had the game-winning RBI as the Wildcats rallied to defeat the Cardinals in a Fox Valley Association game Thursday evening.

After Fond du Lac scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a 4-2 lead, Oshkosh West came back with three of its own to walk off with the win. Hendrix drove in the game-winner with a single past the second baseman. Jamie Holsten picked up the win for the Wildcats, striking out six and walking one. Sydney Friess took the loss for Fond du Lac, allowing 10 hits in 6 2/3 innings.

“I thought it was a really good first game,” Fond du Lac coach Julie Ziegler said. “We had our No. 2 pitcher in the whole game and she did really well.”

Crystal Koch had a double and three RBIs for the Cards, while Aleigha Mitchell and Cheyenne Bonincontri were both 2-for-3. Koch’s three-run double in the seventh gave Fondy its short-lived lead.
