2019 Girls Varsity & JV Track Season Results – Est. 1974 < 46 years >

The team finished 21st out of 60 division 1 teams, scoring points 11 points. This was great finish for us in my 2nd year with the team.

Brooke McDowell in the 300 meter hurdles went into the meet ranked 10th, which was ahead of her 12th place finish last year. In the trials on Friday afternoon Brooke had an amazing race breaking the SCHOOL RECORD again in the 300 hurdles with a time of 44.98 and qualifying for finals on Saturday. In Finals on Saturday Brooke used a strong last 4 hurdles to edge out a 6th place finish, which put her on the podium for the first time in her career and my first Fondy athlete to podium. Amazing way to end her career. Good Luck at UW-LaCrosse next year.

Madison Hughes had the 3200 meter run on Saturday. She finished 14th in the event last year and came in ranked 17th this year. The race got off to a fast start with a big pack of athletes breaking off early. Madison slowly picked off athlete by athlete to finish 15th in a very talented field of athletes this year. She had a 9 second PR finishing with a time of 11:23.43. Another awesome career in the books and she will be competing at UW-Milwaukee next year in Cross Country and Track. Good Luck Madison!

Sydney Arndt had both of her events Friday afternoon. It ended up being a hectic first State experience for Sydney as she rushed from Long Jump to the start of the 100 hurdles with no break. In the Long Jump she struggled to find her mark and finished 21st in the event after coming in ranked 20th with a jump of 15-06.75. In the 100m hurdles, she got off to a great start over the first two hurdles and was on pace to qualify for finals when unfortunately the athlete next to her pulled a hamstring and threw the rest of Sydney’s race off. She finished 13th in that event. Sydney has a very bright future as she was 1 of 2 freshman who qualified for state in that event. She will come into the 2020 season as one of the Top 6 hurdlers in the state of Wisconsin.

Ally Schmitz also competed in both the 1600 & 800 meter runs on Friday afternoon. Ally was battling a hamstring injury since the conference meet and it had an effect on trying to compete in both races at a high level. The 1600 was up first she came into the event ranked 14th and PR by 7 seconds to finish 14th. The 1600 m run was loaded with a lot of talent and that was a great race for her to PR by that much with an injury. About a hour and half later, Ally competed in the 800 meter run, she came into the event ranked 21st and grinded her way to 17th place finish, despite battling the hamstring injury that prevented her from sprinting to her full capability. She finished with a time of 2:20.99. Ally will also be one of the top distance runners in the 2020 season as a sophomore and will look to make her mark at state again next year.

Gianna Trotter  competed in the discus on saturday afternoon. The discus field was loaded with upperclassmen and Gianna was the only freshman in the event. Regardless of being the only freshman in the event, Gianna threw a 129-02 on her first throw, which would qualify her for finals, good thing she did because she scratched her next two trial throws. She went into finals ranked 5th. Her first throw of finals was absolutely the most beautiful and best throw of her career to date as she launched the discus 136-05 feet to move her into 2nd place. The throw brought tears to her Coach/Sister’s face. Nobody would out throw her in finals and she finished 2nd in the event as a freshman becoming my 2nd athlete to podium here at Fondy. Gianna will be one of the Top throws in the 2020 season.

Top 10 Performances:

Brooke McDowell – 44.98 improved her 1st place time on the All Time Top 10 List

Madison Hughes – 3200 m run moved up to 3rd place on the All Time Top 10 List.

Gianna Trotter – Discus Improved her 1st place throw on the Freshman All Time Top 10 List. She also moved up to 3rd place on the All Time Top 10 List.

Ally Schmitz – 1600 m run moved to 1st place on the Freshman Top 10 List All Time. She also moved to 5th place on the All Time Top 10 List.

Congrats to both Brooke & Madison on amazing careers and congrats to the 3 freshman Sydney, Ally and Gianna on their great seasons!

West Bend East Invitational

The meet results from the 2nd of our back to back meets The Myrhum Invite (Saturday 5/4) at Arrowhead High School. It was a beautiful day for track and field.
