Braelon  Allen receives NFL award, Fond du Lac wins

He’s at least three years away from a possible NFL contract, but his name is already in the NFL archives.

Fond du Lac’s do-it-all talent Braelon Allen was named the NFL Way to Play High School Award recipient for Week 24 of the 2020-21 high school football season.

The Wisconsin Badgers commit was honored for demonstrating exceptional in-game playing technique, the press release said. Allen’s award earns Fond du Lac a $1,500 equipment grant through USA Football.

Fond du Lac won 63-3 over Green Bay Preble on Friday. Allen, a junior on the field, reclassified in 2020 so he can enroll one year early at Wisconsin this summer. He’s got the build to fit in at the Division I level at 17 years old.

“These tremendous young student-athletes who are recognized with the Way to Play Award clearly demonstrate proper form and technique that reduces unnecessary risk and improves the athlete’s quality of play,” Troy Vincent, NFL executive vice president of football operations, said.

Top247 safety Braelon Allen (Fond Du Lac, Wis.) is the first member of Wisconsin’s 2022 recruiting class.

After narrowing down his list of schools to Florida State, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Wisconsin, Allen selected the Badgers, giving them back-to-back four-star safety commits over the classes of 2021 (Hunter Wohler) and 2022.

“Great relationship with the whole staff. I don’t think there’s anyone on the staff I haven’t had a conversation with,” Allen said in a previous interview. “I love Madison and the state of Wisconsin and the program itself. Very strong relationships with all them there.”

Allen had a ZOOM call with Wisconsin on Monday, which helped seal the deal. Defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard and assistant coach Chris Haering were the lead recruiters for the four-star safety.

“I’m a huge priority for them,” said Allen. “They’ve made that known. They think I could go to Wisconsin and be a great player and we could win a national championship.”

As a sophomore, Allen posted 48 tackles, 6.0 for loss, 4.0 sacks, and three interceptions. Allen and Wohler are the two highest-rated safety recruits for the Badgers over the 247sports composite era.
